Media Industry Networking with Audience Group’s ‘Chug & Chat’ leader, Jake
Six months ago, Jake Stevens joined Audience Group as an Account Exec, fresh to the media sector. Jake successfully passed his probation and contributes to media industry networking in a creative, community-building way.
So, we asked him to reflect on the ride so far and to tell us about ‘Chug & Chat’.

Meet the “New Guy” Leading Chug & Chat:
Q: You’ve just passed the 6-month mark. How’s it been?
What a pleasure it’s been to start my career surrounded by like-minded, driven and enthusiastic people. I’ve worked with a team, clients and media partners who’ve all helped me grow — I genuinely feel lucky. There’s a real sense of momentum here — it makes you want to keep learning, keep contributing, and keep showing up with something valuable to add.
Q: What achievement are you most proud of so far?
Definitely leading the ‘Chug & Chat’ initiative. It’s a meeting we run with our media partners — but with a bit of a twist. It’s interactive, fun, and gives us a proper chance for some media industry networking, to get to know industry peers face-to-face, rather than just seeing them as an email address. (Cue Ian Warner: “We’re a COMMUNICATIONS BUSINESS!”)
Q: What stands out as the biggest surprise since you began your media career?
Just how collaborative it is. There’s structure, but there’s also space to try things and learn by doing. I’ve gained hands-on experience faster than I expected — including being trusted to lead something like Chug & Chat from the very start.”
Q: What are you looking forward to next?
I can’t wait to see what the next six months bring. I’m keen to keep finding ways to contribute. I plan to throw out fresh ideas, help improve how we do things, and basically just keep being the kind of person people trust to get stuff done.
